Investment in VoIP technology is on the increase. As a matter of fact, cable companies have been the latest entrants in the arena and are giving a tough competition to the Internet service providers in different parts of the world. The market for VoIP phone service is growing by leaps and bounds. The results of the latest research substantiate this industry trend. Increasingly, the circuit-based TDM networks are being replaced by IP-based architecture as more and more organisations are making the most of the operational efficiencies of voice over IP.

The migration to VoIP services is fast moving towards completion. Each day, the VoIP service providers are being challenged by new issues - challenges that they are taking up with full vigor. As of now, quite a lot is there in their platters. They have to ensure that the converged networks have enough bandwidth to support voice in addition to every other application. The networks have to be capable of delivering packet voice and that too in “real time.” And amidst all these issues - there is the one dealing with call quality. It seems like almost everyone is pushing VOIP these days. You can hardly walk into Best Buy or Circuit City without seeing all kinds of ads and flyers for VOIP services. There are VOIP ads included with many of your credit card statements, as well as from your home DSL or residential cable Internet services provider. How do you know which one is best and how do you separate fact from marketing hype?

Move over phishers, here come the vishers. Scammers have found a new playground - telephony. When somebody calls to tell you that there’s something irregular with your credit card account, don’t dial the number he or she gives you. Call your regular credit card company office instead.

There would hardly be anyone who doesn’t blink twice after looking at their monthly telephony bill. You open the bill praying for the billing amount to decrease somehow miraculously but alas! For all our hopes are dashed to ground as soon as that white envelope is opened. Month after month the process remains the same. A substantial part of your hard earned money is spend on paying the telephone bill. If you have friends or family staying abroad then god save thy soul! Business houses specially have a hard time keeping their bills under control but all in despair.
